Please record your sightings of flora and fauna particularly less frequent sightings as if we don't know what is living around us we are not able to protect it. Entering your sightings into iRecord ensures they are shared with agencies such as TVERC who inform planning decisions. We use the location and species data entered in our area via iRecord to create a map of sightings.
We recommend recording your sightings directly into iRecord (which also has an App) please do so using our Wildlife in Ascot Activity there - the link takes you straight to this. It is recommended that you include photos of your sightings.
Please click on this link to make a record of a notable tree via The Woodland Trust's website
If you have historic records of local wildlife sightings on file please email us a copy at ascot.wildlife@gmail.com Thank you.
Identification - The iRecord App now attempts to identify species from photos entered in the recording process which is useful. Other useful Apps to help identification from photos include Seek / iNaturalist, Obsidentify and PlantNet. Google Lens is also useful. Cross checking is recommended. We have a page of links here to sources of help to confirm identification and learn more about species.
If you can't identify something take photos and try getting help from iSpot. iSpot is a website aimed at helping anyone identify anything in nature. Once you've registered, you can add an observation to the website and suggest an identification yourself or see if anyone else can identify it for you.
If you prefer to record your sighting using the form below - we will enter the data into National records for you. Please email any photos to ascot.wildlife@gmail.com
